I’m Amanda, a hypnotherapist (qualified 2017) and psychotherapist (qualified 2021) with a Hypnobirthing Practitioner qualification from The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy. I hold a BSc in Psychology (2009) and an MA in Criminology (2012), and I blend evidence-based techniques with a warm, compassionate approach to support women, couples and families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
Before opening my private practice I taught psychology and built my career while raising a young family. I also worked with Victim Support, Cruse Bereavement Care, the Youth Offending Service (KCC), and Circles of Support and Accountability. Those professional roles — together with my roles in family life — deepened my understanding of mental health, resilience, and wellbeing and shaped my commitment to empathy, compassion, and unconditional positive regard.
I work with families and understand the challenges of family dynamics—the roles we play and how they affect relationships. I help clients navigate those dynamics to get the best out of their relationships as they prepare for and adapt to parenthood.
I’m a mother of two boys (27 and 13) and have experienced four pregnancies. I understand the emotional complexities of pregnancy loss and the identity shifts parenthood can bring, and I’m happy to share parts of my personal journey during an initial assessment if it would help build trust.
I believe birth can be a positive, empowering experience—whether it unfolds naturally or with medical support. I understand that empowering yourself in interactions with health professionals is a key component of having the birth you want, and I also recognise that plans may need to change or adapt during labour. With the confidence and skills you gain from these hypnobirthing classes, you’ll be able to make well-informed decisions throughout the process.
