Guiding You Through Every Step of your journey

Learn more about my empathetic, expert approach to mental health.

Meet Amanda

I’m Amanda Swan, an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 25 years’ experience supporting people in mental health and emotionally supportive roles. I provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore life’s challenges safely and at your own pace.

Choosing the right therapist can feel daunting. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood and supported, tailoring therapy to your individual needs using an integrative approach that draws on a range of evidence-informed therapeutic models.

I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, with particular interests in trauma, including PTSD and complex PTSD, bereavement, anxiety, panic and neurodiversity, including ADHD and autism. As a neurodivergent therapist, I value creating an inclusive, collaborative and affirming therapeutic relationship that respects each person’s individual experiences, needs and way of processing the world.

My qualifications include a BSc (Hons) Psychology, an MA in Criminology, an Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, and professional training in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnobirthing. I am also currently applying to undertake a professional doctorate researching the phenomenological experience of clients receiving hypnosis and its relationship with emotional regulation.

Alongside my core qualifications, I have completed additional professional training in bereavement and loss, autism, youth work, group facilitation and pre-trial therapy. This continued professional development helps me provide informed and appropriate support to people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.

I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, an accredited registrant of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS), hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, and am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Alongside individual counselling, I offer clinical hypnotherapy, hypnobirthing, creative therapeutic groups, clinical supervision and consultancy. I also provide pre-trial therapy for people involved in legal proceedings, offering emotional support while maintaining clear professional and evidential boundaries.

Sessions are available face to face in Chartham and Thanington, near Canterbury, as well as online, by telephone, text and email. I also accept Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) referrals and am a recognised Bupa provider.

If you’re considering therapy, I offer a free, no-obligation introductory call so we can discuss your needs, answer any initial questions and see whether we’re a good fit to work together.
