Therapy & Mediation for Marriage/Relationship Reparation, Separation or Divorce

Couples and relationship therapy is not always about repairing and restoring the relationship. Sometimes it is about mediation for separation and or divorce and I can help you with either.

In my experience of working with couples, often each party are in slightly different places, which is why they’ve ended up in my therapy room in the first place. It can be that one or the other, rarely both at the same time, decide they want to separate and or divorce and the other wants reparation and reconciliation. This adds to conflict within the relationship understandably, and a place of stuckness in communication – stalemate. This is where therapy and mediation helps.

It is my aim to support you both equally, without judgement and in the safety of the therapy room, to help you both find an amicable way forward. It can be challenging and conflictual at times, however my role is to help you both get through this in the best possible way and with the best outcome all considered, especially if there are children involved.

I provide an impartial service that is built around an ethical framework to provide safety, stability and confidentiality. Yet show compassion and empathy for the position that you are in, whether you want to restore your relationship or whether you have decided to separate and or divorce. At Swan therapy and well-being, it is important that you are heard and understood in this process. To make sure that I have heard you and understood what you have come to do, I will listen to you, I will hear you, and if I want more clarification from you, then I will ask because it’s important that how we move forward is transparent and honest.

We will set goals and aims, and we will review these at regular intervals, normally every four weeks. It is also important that you are able to voice how you feel, explain if you don’t agree with something, and I will facilitate your dialogue in the therapy room with each other as well as put boundaries in place and restore some communication to the level that is appropriate to the situation.

Coming to couples therapy, relationship therapy, or a mediation service can reduce stress, anxiety, PTSD symptoms and help reassure you that you are moving forward rather than staying stuck – this is where resentment and frustration can increase, but with my support I will help you feel more ease and in control, provide clarity and aim to. help you feel more confident than you would without this process.

When children are involved in separation and or divorce, this will inevitably lengthen the time you’re coming to therapy or mediation, but understandably it is important to get the outcome right for the children and safeguard their well-being. Patience may be difficult for you yet you can trust in me and this process that I will help guide your communication.

This is of course a brief description of how I work and of how I can support you. If you would like to know more and give me a brief description of your circumstances to see if I can help, please do get in touch using the contact form on this website – no query or question is too small.
